Reconciliation


The Sacrament of Reconciliation is the first of two sacraments of healing.  This is the sacrament of spiritual healing for baptized persons who have distanced themselves from God as a result of sins committed.  There are four elements to the sacrament:

 First Reconciliation


The parish preparation program for Reconciliation consists of these components:

- Since parental involvement in catechesis is essential in the on-going formation of the child, a Reconciliation Prep Night is required for the parent/guardian and the child receiving the sacrament on Monday, November 7, 2016 from 6:30-8:00pm in Kramer Hall.

- The child must attend PSR/Catholic School regularly and actively participate in a two-year preparation period.

- Reconciliation preparation begins in grade one and the immediate preparation in grade two.

The children will celebrate their First Reconciliation on January 24, 2017 at 6:30 pm

- November 7, 2016 Reconciliation Formation 6:30-8:30 pm
- November 16, 2016 PSR Parent Child Reconciliation Class
- January 11, 2017 PSR Parent Child Reconciliation Class
- January 24, 2017 First Reconciliation Celebration 6:30 pm

 


 CRITERIA FOR READINESS

The candidate:

1. Can distinguish accident, inappropriate behavior, and sin according to the child’s age.
2. Must acknowledge sin.
3. Expresses sorrow for sin.
